Day 10 at Microsoft
Today at Microsoft was our last day. We finished up our talk about DataDude and were prepared for the talk. Our talk consisted of a 5 minute speech and an hour long body, including question time. The speech went pretty well and we were surprised that we managed to easily go through the entire hour and still have about a quarter left to talk about! After we had finished our talk we were told that we had now officially finished our fellowship at Microsoft. We said our goodbyes and packed up our laptops. We were then given some advice as to further our knowledge of ICT and also more photos were taken. Overall it had been an enjoyable time at Microsoft and we had learnt many new things. I would like to thank Graham and David for helping me and Ben out with our fellowship. It was a great time and I highly recommend it!

Day 9 at Microsoft
Today was our second last day at Microsoft and so we decided to get a few photos while we were there. During the weekend I plan to update my blogg with an overview of what had happened during my stay here at Microsoft. A lot of today was based on trying to learn this new program ‘datadude’. Unfortunately for me I wasted a lot of time trying to get a table working on this new program. I encountered a few problems and then realised that this program isn’t even a Beta version yet, which basically means it is only about 50% completed. Yesterday we also got another Power Edge we had to setup. That involved a bit of our time. During the afternoon I finished up a bit of the Datadude stuff and managed to get the tables data finished.

Day 8 at Microsoft
Today, after 7 days on the HTML coding, we moved onto something new which was a great change. We started working with a new program that had just been released to the public from Microsoft and we were given the task of an oral presentation two days later. We also had a good chat with one of our mentors as our original one was away. We then followed on with lunch downstairs. The new program we were working with was called DataDude. Which is based on giving "dudes" that deal with "data" more tools to work with as a team.

Day 7 at Microsoft
Today we finished up most of what we had to do with the HTML code which was good as it was starting to get repetitive, although it had been good working with it. We continued work on the Dell Power Edge 2800 and managed to install and get the server mostly running. There were a couple of things that we couldn’t do but we still managed to hold in alright.

Day 6 At Microsoft
Unfortunately we were left with ourselves today as our mentors had meetings for the duration of the day. We continued to work with the code and we did pretty well. I managed to get rid of over 600 errors in the code I had which I was quite happy about. After we had finished to what we were capable of doing we next went to the step of setting up a DELL PowerEdge 2800. 300 G HDD, 2.8 Ghz dual core proccessor and a whole heap of other stuff. It weighs over 60kg and is twice the size of a normal computer. It also made a really loud noise when you started it up which scared Ben and I the first time as we thought it was going to explode or something. All in all that was the end to our 6th day

Day 5 At Microsoft
With the HTML code today we encountered a few problems. We had to recode C# back into Visual basic but we had quite a few problems and couldn't get the program to work. We even had one of the guys to try and help us out but it still doesn't work. As well we were outlined in what we were going to be doing for the following week and got a great overview.

Day 4 at Microsoft

Got to work early today and had enough time so that I could play around on the games before starting. Still with the HTML code today but getting a lot closer to finishing it up and getting a good working page. I did have a few problems with the coding and ended up corrupting my original but was able to recuperate

Day 3 at Microsoft

Today I attempted to finish the last of the HTML code. It didn’t take me to long as it was a matter of just getting a couple of lines of code right and transferring it across. I also got to muck around with Virtual PC and managed to get the hang of it. Once I had my code down we set the task of adding a couple of extra features to it.

Again this involved using Virtual PC but the Notebook didn’t have enough RAM and I would usually reset the computer every hour just so it wasn’t as slow. After lunch at La Porchetta we continued working on our menu. It took a while as we had to reconfigure a few things but in the end we got it working. Also just had a go at a couple of other programs that were on our computers as we were using them and it gave us more of an idea of how to use the software and what it could do. Funnily enough I also saw two school mates today.
